The Joy of Monet Paintings

Monet paintings have enjoyed admiration from art lovers since their conception. His works are enjoyed with as much enthusiasm, perhaps even more, as they were in France and England during his lifetime.

A free-spirited artist, Monet entered the profession of artist against his family's wishes. He was able to make at least a reasonable sum of money from selling his art early on, so he was able to continue in what he loved. Over the years he developed his style and branched out to embrace elements of the impressionists in his works.

In the early years he found he had a natural ability to produce caricatures. Quite easily he could create a comical likeness of his teachers and friends.

By and by he was able to sell these works for a steady sum of money. This allowed him the means by which to survive while he pursued a career in art.

He found it difficult to confine himself to four walls and enjoyed spending significant time out of doors. Influenced by Boudin, these art pieces began to feature many natural landscapes. He played with the blending of colors and effects of light in pictures to gain new insight into his natural subjects.

Many of the Monet paintings hanging in art galleries and homes today depict water and garden scenes. Some include dreamy forms of humans interacting with their natural environment.

Soft, cheerful colors fill the pieces while variations in lighting play with the eyes of onlookers. Flowers and trees in various stages of blooming invitingly greet the eyes in his garden pictures.

The slightly choppy rhythm of the waves can almost be felt while gazing at his recreations of a marina or river scape. Clouds seem to drift by over a distant landscape as the fingers of the sun gently touch the surface of the earth. These are just a few of the qualities that make his works sought after by so many art enthusiasts.

His fascination with light and its essence in nature became a serious study for him in his later years. There are several Monet paintings of the area around the Thames River in England.

In these he seeks to capture the subtle variations in light caused by the curtain of low lying clouds at different times. Choosing varying times of day and sun exposure, he worked on perfecting the representation of the touches of the sun as it sought to stream through the famous London fog.

Barely visible through the haze is the House of Parliament. Its towers rise out of the mist, but are not able to break through its thickness. As though there is a battle in nature between the sun and the fog covering the city, the man-made structure stands silently by and watches helplessly.

Monet paintings are among the art work displayed in famous museums and galleries all over the world. He did not struggle to gain popularity as many artists do.

His gift for creating works that pleased the general public came fairly easy to him. The simple caricatures that he began his career with served him well until he matured into more serious portrayals of life.

Landscapes became a hallmark of his craft and he was able to continually develop his talent to produce some deeply touching pieces in this later years.
